Another NYC Dance Improv by Alexandre Barranco with video documentation and editing by Liz Schneider-Cohen.

This improv has a wonderful street vibe. There's the rushing here and there, the tensions and hassles of the daily grind. There's that caffeinated jolt that gets us motivated and that luscious moment when we pause to soak in the sunlight. Alexandre's athleticism and complex body rhythms are addicting to watch!

This video footage was shot at the same time and place as the Red Gate video. I decided to set this part to use in a separate piece. About a year later I went to work on it and this is the result. Just totally broke from the original vibe and went dark and electric! It feels like I cast a turbulent but magical spell!

This is the first dance improvisation video that I created with dancer Alexandre Barranco. We recorded this on 4/4/2021. Since then we have been finding inspiring places in and around New York City and I have been documenting Alexandre's endlessly creative dance responses. We are still at it more than a year later.

A joyful dance improvisation by Alexandre Barranco.

This video is for everyone out there who was not allowed to play dress-up in skirts because of homophobia. It is especially for Alexandre who can twirl a skirt like nobody's business and come up with more ways to express his joy than anyone else I know.

This dance improvisation by Alexandre Barranco was shot and edited by photographer/videographer Liz Schneider-Cohen in April of 2021 during the Covid Pandemic. It clearly expresses the frustration of quarantine life.During Covid many artists were looking for connections and creative, safe ways to work. These two found each other through a mutual friend and have been creating together ever since.
